LEARN To SWIM  FALL/Winter  2023 SCHEDULES

Swim Level

We know everyone is starting this swim journey from different places. Whether you’re a family who has a swimmer learning to self-rescue or interested in being ready for a team or want to compete in our sport--we have a place for you.

Our progressive model training group was created to move swimmers to the level they desire on their swim journey.

Learn to Swim-all new private lesson model

Our improved Swim Lesson Program is designed to enhance the personalized experience of your child learning to swim.  Each year we re-evaluate the effectiveness of our program processes to make sure our swimmers are progressing in the best environment we can provide.  In the past years we have trimmed down our class sizes, added co-teachers and tested out various group setting models. We have also sought out learned experience from other programs around the country and taken optional education classes to realize—with our facility structure and swim lesson program goals to move to a private lesson model program only. It is in our and your swimmer’s best interest to offer a one-to-one model only for our swimmer’s that are learning to swim.  And, even better, they are available for swimmer’s who know how to swim and want additional practice. The set schedules and multiple offerings will allow for consistency across the board.  Make ups, if classes are missed, will follow the same process as before, but with the possibility of an outlier make-up time if your swimmer’s teacher can work with you outside of our set schedules.  We also plan to add some Friday and Saturday afternoon open swim times for our swim lesson students to come enjoy the small pool and test out their skills  with a lifeguard present. We will also offer 10min checkout swims quarterly for swimmer’s “graduating” form lessons or to test their skills in various scenarios outside of class instruction. These are members only benefits.--This is our beginner swim lesson class. Swimmers learn to float like a starfish, hold their breath, practice self-rescuing, and get comfortable in the water.

FAQ’s

What is different:

All our swimmers who are at the Starfish and Seahorse level will only be allowed to enroll in private 20min lessons.  Dolphin level swimmers can enroll in a group setting class with 2 swimmers. The cost per month has changed, but each time your child comes to class they are doubling their instructional minutes.

What about siblings? You can book consecutively timed classes or same time with your swimmer’s having different teachers. Current swimmers have preference.

Why shorter classes? It is a shorter class, but more continuous instruction for your child only.  20min of direct instruction on a consistent basis is enough to learn. Our previous classes were 30min with 3 swimmers, which averages to about 10min. But, although we have class levels, there were mixed level students and not always equally distributed time.

Why are the classes more expensive? The cost is about the same based on per minute instruction that you are receiving before.

What about our child’s previous swim level?  We will continue to use our Progressive model (Starfish, Seahorse and Dolphin) as a tool to gauge what skills we teach and in which order. Now, we will have a celebration when your swimmer reaches the new level, and they will receive a certificate. But you won’t be limited to a class time to receive your child’s swim level of instruction. They will be assessed on their first day and will advance from that level each time they meet.

No sibling/multi-registration discounts?  Since we are limiting the number of students we teach and providing a designated time for each swimmer individually, we will not be able to offer a discount for multiple classes registered. We do still offer our sibling discounts.

Is there still a registration fee? Yes, the annual fee to be a part of our program is $50 for the 2023-2024 swim year. There is also a $7 per swimmer annual insurance fee. These are billed in September for returning members and upon enrolling for new members.

Swimmers still work to achieve mastery of each swim level. Progressed will be measured internally via assessments on our Captyn website. Swimmers will be rewarded when they reach the next level. They advance out of our swim lesson program when they have completed all of the Dolphin skills.

Starfish--This our beginner level of swim lessons. Swimmers learn to be comfortable in the water. The primary focus is water safety learning to float on stomach and back, hold breath and inhale/exhale properly. Swimmers leaving our Starfish class are comfortable in the water and in a swim lesson class setting.

Seahorse--This is an intermediate level swim lesson course. Our Seahorse swimmers learn how to swim independently, flip float follow and become stronger in their self-rescuing skills. We also introduce back stroke and two breathing methods. Swimmers leaving our Seahorse class can swim a short distance and take at least one breath. They can also flip and float on their back in lieu of breathing and can jump in turn around and swim to the wall confidently and without help.

Dolphin --This is our most advanced swim lesson class. Swimmers in this class can move in the water independently and take at least one breath by flipping on to their backs.  This class teaches the prep skills for our Sea babies class and builds stronger swimmers. Swimmers leaving our Dolphin classes can swim a 1/2 comfortably while taking breaths. Swimmers are able to execute their swim skills in the deep end and tread water for at least 1:00. Swimmers can also swim on their back for 1/2 25 without assistance.

Timeliness

Please arrive early enough so that your student has time to stop by the bathroom, get changed and get equipment ready before class begins. To avoid class disruptions, if the student is more than 15 minutes late, he or she will not be allowed to join class that day.

Parent/Guardian Attendance

Participants’ parent/guardian must remain at the facility or on the pool deck   during the entire duration of each lesson.

Changing Areas, Restrooms and Locker Rooms - Dedicated Facilities

Children under the age of 4 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian in a same sex changing room, restroom.  Children 4 years and older can use the same sex changing room unaccompanied

Swimsuits

Anyone entering the pool is required to wear appropriate swim apparel. Street clothing is not permitted. While it is not required, we highly recommend that little girls wear one-piece swimsuits.

Swim Diapers

All students who are not fully potty-trained and all students under the age of three are required to wear a reusable (non- disposable) swim diaper. Disposable swim diapers (such as Lil’ Swimmers) can and should be worn under the non-disposable swim diaper. Reusable diapers have a tighter fit, which helps to avoid accidents in our pools. A swimsuit or a pair of shorts should be worn over the diaper.  Even a small accident in the pool can close the pool down for as long as 24 hours.  If you attend a hosted location and your student is under the age of three or not potty-trained they will be required to wear one (1) disposable swim diaper and two (2) reusable diapers. If in doubt, PLEASE do not take the chance.

Watching Lessons

Participant’s parents and guardians must remain on the pool deck during their child’s lesson at hosted facilities. Our goal is to give your child the best learning experience possible so we ask you to refrain from

interrupting your child’s class. If you have questions or requests for your instructor, you can talk to them after class or email them during business hours.

Food and Snacks

Food and drink are not allowed on the pool deck at any time. The only exception to this is bottled water in a non-glass container.
